Quick summary

  • Our target is WCAG 2.2 AA and we keep improving.
  • If something is hard to use, email accessibility@blendofbites.com — we’ll help.
  • We prioritize fixes that affect reading, navigation, and core site functions.

If you need a recipe or page in a different format, tell us what you need and we’ll do our best to help.

1) Our accessibility goal

We want the core parts of the Site to be usable with assistive technologies and alternative input methods, including:

  • reading posts and recipes
  • searching and navigating the Site
  • subscribing to emails (where available)
  • accessing key information such as ingredients, instructions, and safety notes

2) Standards and conformance status

We work toward conforming to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA.

Because the Site is updated often and may include third-party content (like programmatic advertising), we consider the Site to be partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 AA.

3) How we test and improve accessibility

We work to identify and fix accessibility issues through a mix of:

  • automated checks (for example, common issues like missing alternative text)
  • manual testing (keyboard navigation and real-page checks)
  • ongoing content updates (for example, improving headings and image descriptions)

Accessibility is an ongoing process. We review the Site periodically and prioritize fixes that affect core functionality.

4) Compatibility and assistive technologies

The Site is intended to work on modern browsers and devices. If you are using assistive technology, we recommend keeping both your browser and assistive tools up to date.

Examples of commonly used setups (not a guarantee):

  • desktop: recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge
  • mobile: recent versions of iOS Safari and Android Chrome

Common assistive technologies include (examples):

  • screen readers such as VoiceOver (Safari on iOS/macOS) and NVDA (Windows)
  • keyboard-only navigation and alternative input devices

5) Accessibility features we try to support

We work to support common accessibility features such as:

  • keyboard navigation (tab/shift+tab/enter/escape)
  • visible focus indicators
  • readable color contrast for text in most areas
  • meaningful headings (H1/H2/H3) so screen readers can navigate
  • descriptive link text where possible
  • alternative text for images (especially recipe step photos)

6) Known limitations (things that may not be perfect yet)

We are transparent about known accessibility limitations because this Site is image-heavy and uses third-party services.

A) Third-party advertising

The Site is supported by programmatic advertising (for example, via Mediavine). Third-party ads are delivered by external vendors and can occasionally:

  • interfere with focus order or keyboard navigation
  • include motion/animation that some users find distracting
  • load or behave differently across browsers/devices

We do not control third-party ad code, but we do report issues when we become aware of them.

B) Embedded content (video/social)

Some posts include embedded content (for example, YouTube or social embeds). These are controlled by third parties and may not fully meet accessibility expectations.

C) Older/legacy content

We have an archive of older content. Some older pages may have:

  • missing or less descriptive alternative text on images
  • heading structures that are not ideal
  • media that lacks accurate captions/transcripts

We prioritize improvements to high-traffic content first.

D) User-generated content (if enabled)

If comments or user submissions are enabled, user-submitted content may not include alternative text or may not follow accessibility best practices. We generally do not rewrite user submissions.

7) Accessibility feedback and help

If you experience difficulty using the Site, we want to hear from you.

Email us at accessibility@blendofbites.com with the subject line:

“Accessibility”

Please include:

  • the page URL where you had a problem
  • what you were trying to do
  • what device/browser you’re using (and any assistive technology, if you want to share)

We usually respond within 2 business days.

If we can’t fix an issue quickly, we will try to provide an alternative way to access the information (for example, a plain-text version of a recipe or key steps).

If you cannot use email, you can also contact us through our general contact method (for example, a “Contact” page), if available.

8) Escalation

If you contact us and you are not satisfied with our response, please reply to the same email thread and include the subject line:

“Accessibility Escalation”

We will review it again and do our best to resolve the issue or provide an alternative access method.

9) Updates to this statement

We may update this Accessibility Statement as we improve the Site. We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
