Hunch Punch is a strong drink if there ever was one. This one’s for those wild nights, the ones where you’d just rather lose track of time and space and simply misbehave. Though it’s hard to find a proper one, this recipe for Hunch Punch is just tuned to perfection. You can also customize it according to your expectations. Looking for a tasty punch? Just go with the original Hunch Punch recipe. Let’s take a look.

- Everclear — 1 bottle, 25 oz.
- Vodka — 1 bottle, 25 oz.
- Fruit punch — 3 gallons.
- Orange juice — 16 oz.
- Pineapple juice — 16 oz.
- Lemon soda — 6 ½ cups.
- Ginger ale — 6 ½ cups.
- Ice — 1 pack.
Instructions
- Pour all the ingredients except for the ice into a punch bowl.
- Stir well.
- Add the ice once you’ve poured the Hunch Punch into the punch cups.
- Optional — garnish with fruit.
Substitutions
- Juices — The traditional recipe for Hunch Punch usually includes two different kinds of fruit juices, and they don’t have to be orange juice or pineapple juice. Grapefruit juice, pomegranate juice, and cranberry juice are other choices.
- Everclear — Though most Hunch Punch recipes call for Everclear, it’s a bit controversial due to its high alcohol rate. If it is not available, there are some substitutes. Absinthe is easy to find and still packs a heavy punch. Mezcal tequila would work as well. You might want to try Balkan vodka, though we should mention that it’s probably the heaviest one.
- Fruit punch — Fruit punch not only provides some much-needed flavor to an otherwise sour Hunch Punch, but it also provides some color. You can easily make your own fruit punch, combining orange juice, cranberry juice, and pineapple juice.
- Vodka — This recipe for Hunch Punch is already strong as it is, so we wouldn’t suggest using a strong vodka. Smirnoff vodka will do perfectly, and if you want some more flavor, you could go with the Smirnoff watermelon vodka as well. Just make sure that it is ½ proof.
- Lemon soda — If you have some lemon soda available, just go with it. If not, you could also use Sprite.
Variations
- Deathtrap — This one’s for those who are looking for an even stronger punch than the original recipe for Hunch Punch. Simply swap the ginger ale for rum. Coconut rum might work well, as it also provides more flavor.
- Minimal — If you’ve taken a look at the ingredients list, you might’ve noticed that there are lots of juices, fruit punch, and some lemon soda. If you’d just rather have a simple mix of alcohol instead, just omit the juices and the lemon soda, and go with Everclear and fruit juice only. You should keep in mind that this one will be a lot heavier.

Tips
- Don’t rush the ice — If you’ve just mixed all the ingredients in the punch bowl, don’t add the ice just yet. This will only make your Hunch Punch watery and less strong, and we don’t want that. Add the ice to the glasses instead.
- Size matters — Size is important when it comes to picking the right punch bowl. This is true especially if you’re preparing a big batch, which is the case with this recipe for Hunch Punch.
- Take a sip — Before serving, stop for a moment and take a sip. If it’s too strong, add more juice to dilute it.
- Know when to stop — Call this one a disclaimer if you’d like, but keep in mind that Hunch Punch is a fairly strong mix and you should drink it responsibly. The problem is that, due to the different juices present in it, you don’t feel the alcohol until it becomes too late. If you can’t hold your liquor, a Pornstar martini or a Slippery Nipple cocktail might be better suited for you.
