The holiday season is just not complete without a proper dessert, and when it comes to that, our Pink Stuff recipe will surely be your next favorite one that brings the whole family together.
The ‘pink’ part comes from the cherry pie filling, while the ‘stuff’ happens to be a combination of dairy, tropical fruit, and nuts. If pink isn’t your thing, don’t worry about it. Our Pink Stuff recipe happens to come with a long list of substitutions, so cherry pie filling is fairly easy to replace!

- Chill before serving.
Substitutions
- Cherry pie filling — While you could use any other type of fruit filling, that would be against the spirit of our Pink Stuff recipe. If you find yourself in desperate need of a substitute, feel free to use blueberry, strawberry, or raspberry fillings. If you are up for some experimentation, you can also try using jams. At least that’s what we did, and we were fairly satisfied with the results.
- Sweetened condensed milk — This Pink Stuff recipe works better with sweetened condensed milk. However, we have also tried making the recipe using coconut cream, and it turned out just fine. We tried Greek yogurt, and it was different than expected due to the changes in consistency.
- Pecans — You can easily replace pecans with walnuts in most cases. Peanuts and cashews would work too. Just remember to chop them properly!
Variations
- Vegan — If you’ve been looking for a vegan Pink Stuff recipe, then you are in luck! Two cups of almond milk, coconut milk, and oat milk would be enough to replace a cup of sweetened condensed milk. However, you might feel the lack of the ‘sweetened’ part. A good solution to this would be adding a pinch of sugar to your vegan milk. You should also use a vegan-friendly whipped topping, which should be easy to find.
- Tropical — Admittedly, you can’t go wrong with crushed pineapples and they are tropical enough. Keep in mind that our Pink Stuff recipe can always get better with your personal touch. Mangoes and avocados will surely improve your dessert, especially when combined with pineapples.
Equipment
- Measuring cup
- Mixing bowl
- Whisk
Storage
- Refrigerate it — You can cover the dessert or transfer the leftovers to an airtight container before refrigerating. Once in your fridge, the leftovers will last for a week at the most.
- Freeze it — You can either wrap the leftovers or transfer them to a freezer bag. Once stored in your freezer, the leftovers will last for a month.
Pro Tips
- Chilling the dessert — Although it is specifically mentioned in our Pink Stuff recipe, the importance of chilling the dessert should be highlighted. This will allow the ingredients to bond together and give the dessert a nice, smooth texture.
- The topping — Although our Pink Stuff recipe results in a light dessert, if you’ve been counting your calories lately, feel free to skip the frozen whipped topping entirely.
