Oh, to be nineteen again. The grass is greener, and the juices are flowing. Those college parties sure bring out a lot of fun memories. The beer pong, the strangest cocktails… One of them, and we are sure it is still popular, is the slippery nipple cocktail. A cheesy name for sure, but there are even stranger names. (Looking at you, pornstar martini cocktail.) A delightful combination of grenadine, Sambuca, and Irish cream; this slippery nipple recipe cocktail not only tastes unique but also looks unique. The perfect ice breaker, this one will be indispensable for those Friday nights. Though it is worth mentioning that this recipe might require some practice and know-how, so make sure you also check the notes.
Ingredients
- Grenadine — ¼ oz.
- Sambuca — ½ oz., an Italian liqueur.
- Irish cream — ½ oz., preferably Baileys.
- Cherry — 1 pc., stem removed, optional.
Instructions
- Chill the ingredients, including the shot glasses.
- If you wish, place one stemless cherry at the bottom of the shot glass.
- Use the back of the cocktail spoon to pour the grenadine into the bottom, to create the ‘nipple’ part.
- Again, use the cocktail spoon to slowly pour the Sambuca for the second layer.
- Pour the Irish cream with the same method for the third layer.
Equipment
- Shot glasses — Ideally 2-ounce and chilled.
- Cocktail spoon.
- Cocktail jigger.
Tips
- Using the cocktail spoon — What makes this slippery nipple recipe cocktail so unique is the three separate and beautiful layers. However, one misstep and you end up with a mess in your hand. So, the cocktail spoon can come to your rescue. When pouring the Grenadine, Sambuca, and Irish cream, place the cocktail spoon upside down in the glass and pour the liquid down the length of the handle. This may require some practice, so feel free to try it out beforehand.
- Tweaks and twists — The great thing about this slippery nipple recipe cocktail is that you have the freedom to tweak and twist any part you don’t like. The licorice flavor of the anise might taste strange to you, especially if you haven’t tried it before. If you do not like it, you can always swap it for vodka, a taste that you are likely to be more familiar with. Lastly, this slippery nipple recipe cocktail has a reputation for being too sweet for some people’s taste. To tone it down, you can skip the grenadine, although it would ruin the unique look.
