For the batter, combine sugar, flour, salt, milk, and baking powder in a bowl.
Mix well until there are no visible slumps.
Open the cans, drain the peaches, and rinse them.
Coat the bottom of the baking pan with butter.
Pour some batter into the baking pan, and spread it evenly.
Create the third and final layer by placing the peaches on top of the batter.
Bake for between 45-50 minutes.
