Prepare the marinade by combining the beef, soy sauce, lemon, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl.
Ideally, you should marinade overnight, but an hour or two will also do the job.
Heat cooking oil and sauté the onions in a pan.
Add the beef. Cook for a minute or two.
Remove the beef from the heat, and add the garlic. Sauté the garlic for a few minutes.
Once the garlic is done, add the marinade with water. Add the beef, and bring it to a boil.
Add salt and pepper to taste.

Notes
The marinade — A good marinade is the difference between an average Pinoy beef and a great one. So, make sure that you don’t go cheap on the marinade ingredients, especially with soy sauce or fish sauce. Again, if possible, try to marinate your beef overnight. You’ll be amazed by the results.
The seasoning — This one is the most basic one among all the other Pinoy beef recipes, which means you get to be a bit creative, especially when it comes to the seasoning. Especially if you’re an experienced cook, feel free to add more seasoning ingredients that suit your taste. Ginger and bay leaf, for example, comes to mind. More seasonings mean an even more complex flavor, so make sure you try different things.
