Start by preheating the oven to 375°F/190°C and lightly greasing a large cast iron skillet with vegetable oil.
Set aside 2 tablespoons of the butter in a warm place, so it will naturally melt until ready to use. Use a knife to evenly cut the remaining 4 tablespoons of butter into cubes.
Put the flour with salt and baking soda in a large basin. Use a whisk to create a blend.
In a second bowl, add the buttermilk, egg, and honey. Mix well.
Add the cubed cold butter into the dry ingredients bowl. Use a dough mixer or bread machine, or your hands, to mix all the ingredients.
Add the prepared buttermilk mixture and mix with a spatula until all the flour is mixed in. You should get a sticky crust that adheres to the bowl's walls.
Prepare your working surface by powdering it with flour. The dough will be placed on the flour-dusted surface. With floured hands, bring the edges of the dough to the center so that you get a ball-shaped dough.
Transfer the dough into the prepared greased iron cast skillet.
For a special appearance, use a blade (or a knife) for notching the dough and make an 'X' shape on the top of the loaf.
Bake for 35-40 minutes.
After removing it from the oven, gently brush it with the reserved melted butter.
Cool for at least half an hour before slicing.
