Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can pinto beans
  • 4 tsp. vegetable oil
  • ½ cup onion finely chopped
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1 can red kidney beans
  • 2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tbsp. brown sugar
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 5 oz. Portuguese sausage
  • 1 pc. green bell pepper chopped
  • 4 pcs. celery chopped
  • 1 tbsp. cumin
  • 1 tbsp. oregano
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 pcs. bay leaves

Instructions
 

  • Heat some vegetable oil in a large pan. Transfer the ground beef to the pan.
  • Sauté the meat until browned. Make sure to flip the meat every once in a while, to ensure that both sides are equally cooked.
  • Drain any excess fat from the pan.
  • Add the green bell pepper, celery, onion, and finally the Portuguese sausage.
  • Cook for a few minutes on medium heat.
  • Add the tomato sauce, along with the beans and chicken broth.
  • Stir well for a minute or two.
  • Add the oregano, cumin, chili powder, brown sugar, and bay leaves.
  • Let the mixture simmer for about 30 minutes until the vegetables are softened.
  • Remove from the heat.
  • Remove the bay leaves and stir in the mayo before serving.
