Fill a large pot with enough water to cover the macaroni.
Add some salt and bring to a boil.
Add the macaroni. Cook until tender and soft.
Drain and rinse under cold water.
Combine the mayonnaise, onion, carrot, and pepper in a mixing bowl.
Chill for an hour or two.
Combine the vegetable mixture with the macaroni. Toss to coat.
