Equipment

  • Oven-safe skillet
  • Large knife

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts
  • 4 slices Bacon
  • 2 tablespoons Extra-virgin olive oil
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons Balsamic glaze
  • ½ teaspoon Sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Black pepper freshly ground

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Trim the Brussels sprouts and cut them in half lengthwise.
  • Place the bacon in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat and cook until crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet, leaving the bacon grease behind.
  • Add the olive oil to the skillet with the bacon grease and heat it over medium-high heat.
  • Add the Brussels sprouts to the skillet, cut side down, and cook for 5 minutes, or until they develop a golden brown sear.
  • Flip the Brussels sprouts and add the minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  • Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and roast for 12-15 minutes, or until the Brussels sprouts are tender and caramelized.
  • Remove the skillet from the oven and drizzle the balsamic glaze over the Brussels sprouts.
  • Sprinkle with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Notes

  • Bacon renderings — Don't discard the bacon renderings after cooking the bacon in the skillet. They lend a rich smoky flavor to the Brussels sprouts and enhance their overall taste.

  • Crunchy texture — For an extra touch of texture and flavor, sprinkle some toasted pine nuts or almond slices over the roasted Brussels sprouts just before serving. The crunch will elevate the dish to new heights.
