Equipment

  • Square baking dish
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula or spoon
  • Whisk or fork
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cooking spray or butter for greasing
  • Caramel drizzling tool (optional)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • ½ cup Unsalted butter melted
  • ½ cup Cocoa powder
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon Baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • 1 can Sweetened condensed milk (14 ounces)
  • ½ cup Caramel sauce homemade or store-bought
  • ¼ cup Honey for drizzling

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a square baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Stir until well combined.
  • Add the melted unsalted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until the batter is smooth and no lumps remain.
  • Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly using a spatula.
  • Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the first layer of brownie batter.
  • Next, carefully pour the remaining brownie batter over the sweetened condensed milk, covering it completely.
  • Using a spoon or a spatula, drizzle the caramel sauce over the top of the brownie batter in a decorative pattern.
  • Bake the brownies in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool in the baking dish for about 15 minutes.
  • Drizzle the honey over the warm brownies, allowing it to seep into the layers.
  • Once completely cooled, cut the honeybun brownies into squares and serve.

Notes

  • Honey drizzle — For a beautiful presentation, warm the honey slightly before drizzling it over the brownies. This will make it easier to create artistic patterns.
  • Room temperature ingredients — To ensure a smooth batter, make sure all the ingredients, especially the eggs and butter, are at room temperature before mixing.
  • Cooling time — Allow the brownies to cool completely in the baking dish before cutting into them. This will ensure clean, neat slices.
  • Double-layer — For an even more decadent treat, you can double the brownie batter and caramel layers, making sure to adjust the baking time accordingly.
  • Sprinkle of sea salt — If you enjoy the interplay of sweet and salty flavors, a sprinkle of sea salt on top of the caramel drizzle adds a delightful touch.
