Equipment

  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Mixing bowl
  • Saucepan
  • Flat griddle pan
  • Brush

Ingredients

Basic Ingredients

  • 2 Beyond Burger patties
  • 2 Pretzel-style buns
  • 2 medium-sized Yellow onions sliced
  • 1 tsp. Brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. Balsamic vinegar
  • 2 slices Cheddar cheese
  • 1 Tomato sliced
  • 2 leaves Iceberg lettuce
  • 8 slices Bread and butter pickles
  • 1 ½ cups Butter

Dressing Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp. Mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp. Ketchup
  • 1 tsp. Hot sauce
  • ¼ cup Onion grated
  • ½ tsp. Black pepper
  • ½ tsp. Salt
  • ½ tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp. Lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp. Olive oil

Instructions

  • Mix all the dressing ingredients in a large bowl, give the mixture a good stir, and set aside for now.
  • Heat some oil in a small pan.
  • Add the onions and cook for a few minutes before adding the brown sugar.
  • Once the sugar dissolves, which shouldn’t take more than a few minutes, pour in the balsamic vinegar.
  • Cook for a few minutes until the onions are juicy and tender. Set aside for now.
  • Brush both sides of the Beyond Meat patties with oil and place them on a flat griddle pan.
  • Cook the patties for four minutes per side. Remove from the heat.
  • Place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of the patties to soften them.
  • Generously butter the pretzel buns and toast until golden brown.
  • Place a leaf of iceberg lettuce on the bottom, followed by the burger and the cheese slice.
  • Top with tomato slices, the pickles, and lastly, the onion slices.
  • Pour the dressing mixture over the top bun before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust — Beyond Meat’s burger recipe has a loaded list of dressing ingredients, but you can always adjust according to your taste. Omit the ones you don’t like, or use more of what you like.

  • The rest — Once the burger patties are cooked, place the cheese slices on top and let them rest for a few minutes. This will allow the burger patties to become juicy, while at the same time giving the cheese some much-needed time to soften and blend with the meat.
