Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper or aluminum foil
  • Large bowl
  • Measuring spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts trimmed and halved
  • 3 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 4 cloves Garlic minced
  • ½ cup Grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon Red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
  • In a large bowl, toss the Brussels sprouts with olive oil, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Make sure the sprouts are evenly coated with the seasonings.
  • Spread the Brussels sprouts in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Make sure they are not overcrowded to ensure even browning.
  • Roast the Brussels sprouts in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Give them a gentle toss halfway through cooking to ensure even browning.
  • Remove the baking sheet from the oven and sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the Brussels sprouts. Return the baking sheet to the oven for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and slightly golden.
  • Remove from the oven and let the Brussels sprouts cool for a few minutes before serving. The crispy garlic parmesan Brussels sprouts are best enjoyed immediately.

Notes

  • Trimming the Brussels sprouts — Make sure to trim the tough ends of the Brussels sprouts and remove any discolored outer leaves before halving them. This ensures even cooking and a more appealing presentation.

  • Evenly coating the sprouts — Use your hands to toss the Brussels sprouts with the olive oil and seasonings. This allows for better distribution of flavors and ensures each sprout is coated for maximum deliciousness.

  • Don't overcrowd the baking sheet — To achieve crispy Brussels sprouts, make sure they are spread out in a single layer on the baking sheet. Overcrowding can lead to steaming instead of roasting, resulting in less crispy sprouts.

  • Adjust the cooking time — Keep an eye on the Brussels sprouts as they roast. Cooking times may vary depending on the size of the sprouts and your oven. Aim for a golden brown color and crispy texture.

  • Customize the seasonings — Feel free to experiment with different seasonings to suit your taste. Add smoked paprika for a smoky flavor, or try a sprinkle of lemon zest for a citrusy twist.
