Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Colander
  • Small bowl
  • Whisk
  • Large skillet

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Green beans ends trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon Honey
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and blanch them for 2 minutes. This will help to retain their vibrant green color and crisp texture. Drain the beans and set them aside.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, minced garlic, honey, and sesame oil. This will create the flavorful glaze for the green beans.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the green beans to the skillet and cook for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Pour the soy glaze over the green beans and continue to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the beans are tender-crisp and the glaze has thickened slightly.
  • Remove the skillet from the heat and transfer the green beans to a serving dish. Sprinkle with sesame seeds for an extra touch of flavor and visual appeal.
  • Serve the soy-glazed green beans immediately as a side dish to your favorite main course. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Blanching— Blanching the green beans before cooking helps to preserve their vibrant color and crisp texture. Be sure not to overcook them during this step to maintain their freshness.

  • Sesame seeds— Toasting the sesame seeds before garnishing adds a nutty flavor and enhances their crunchiness. Simply heat a dry skillet over medium heat and toast the seeds for a few minutes until golden brown.

  • Adjust the glaze— Feel free to adjust the amount of soy sauce, honey, and garlic in the glaze to suit your taste preferences. If you prefer a sweeter glaze, add a bit more honey. If you love garlic, add an extra clove for a bolder flavor.
