Thanksgiving Soy-Glazed Green Beans with Sesame & Honey
Add an Asian twist to your Thanksgiving meal with these soy-glazed green beans. A delightful combination of savory and sweet, garnished with sesame seeds for that perfect finish!
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and blanch them for 2 minutes. This will help to retain their vibrant green color and crisp texture. Drain the beans and set them aside.
In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, minced garlic, honey, and sesame oil. This will create the flavorful glaze for the green beans.
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the green beans to the skillet and cook for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Pour the soy glaze over the green beans and continue to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the beans are tender-crisp and the glaze has thickened slightly.
Remove the skillet from the heat and transfer the green beans to a serving dish. Sprinkle with sesame seeds for an extra touch of flavor and visual appeal.
Serve the soy-glazed green beans immediately as a side dish to your favorite main course. Enjoy!
Notes
Blanching— Blanching the green beans before cooking helps to preserve their vibrant color and crisp texture. Be sure not to overcook them during this step to maintain their freshness.
Sesame seeds— Toasting the sesame seeds before garnishing adds a nutty flavor and enhances their crunchiness. Simply heat a dry skillet over medium heat and toast the seeds for a few minutes until golden brown.
Adjust the glaze— Feel free to adjust the amount of soy sauce, honey, and garlic in the glaze to suit your taste preferences. If you prefer a sweeter glaze, add a bit more honey. If you love garlic, add an extra clove for a bolder flavor.
