Ingredients
- Water — 13 cups
- Granulated sugar — 2 cups
- ReaLemon lemon juice — 2 cups
- Ice — as needed
Instructions
- Combine water, granulated sugar, and the ReaLemon lemon juice in a jug.
- Stir until the sugar dissolves, which shouldn’t take more than a minute.
- Chill for a few hours.
- Serve over ice.
Substitutions
- Sugar — Sugar is a no-brainer in any given lemonade recipe, but we wanted to make our lemonade healthier, so we used a combination of honey and water instead. Simply mix half a cup of honey with a cup of water in a pan, and bring the mixture to a boil. Simply follow along with the rest of the recipe and use honey syrup instead of sugar.
- Water — If you’d like to have your lemonade with a cool, sparkling twist, you can always swap water for sparkling water.
Variations
- Pink lemonade — Although the color yellow is simply what you’d look for in a lemonade, ReaLemon’s lemonade recipe can also be made pink. All you need is half a cup of diced watermelon, and you should be good to go! If watermelon is not your thing, you can use cranberry juice, strawberry juice, and even pomegranate juice.
- Rosemary lemonade — We have found a way to make the recipe more beneficial. Simply boil an ounce or two of dried rosemary in four cups of water, and then strain it. Swap it with the regular water you would use, and there you go! You have a serving of rosemary lemonade in your hands.
- Brazilian lemonade — Add half a cup of sweetened condensed milk with three fresh limes and other ingredients to a blender. Strain to remove the lime chunks, chill, and serve over ice. That was our take on the classic ReaLemon’s lemonade recipe, and it’s safe to say that it was a success.
Equipment
- Measuring cups
- Jug
Storage
- Transfer any leftover lemonade into a jar with a tight lid or an airtight container.
- Once stored in your fridge, the leftover lemonade will last for two days at most.
- It’s always a good idea to serve the leftover lemonade over ice.
Pro Tips
- Adjust — ReaLemon’s lemonade recipe clearly states the required amount of each ingredient, but keep in mind that you can always adjust them according to the crowd. Not only that, but you can also adjust the ratios, depending on how you’d like to have your lemonade. For example, using less sugar will result in a healthy, but bland lemonade.
- R-Rated — If you won’t be serving any children, ReaLemon’s lemonade recipe can also be made R-rated. Simply consider adding a splash of your favorite drink to the mix, be it rum, gin, or tequila.
