- Season both sides with Everything Bagel seasoning.
Substitutions
- Everything Bagel seasoning — Dunkin Donuts’ avocado spread recipe famously calls for Everything Bagel seasoning. If you happen to be short on it, you can put together a mix of poppy seeds, sesame seeds (both black and white), and kosher salt. If you wish, add some minced onion and garlic.
- Lemon juice — This one provides some much-needed acidity and moisture to your avocado spread, along with a unique flavor. Still, if you’re looking for something different, you can never go wrong with orange juice or lime juice. The spread will be less acidic but will taste different though. While this one might not be as popular as the rest, vinegar might be of good use too.
- Sourdough bread — Sourdough bread is not only healthier than regular bread, but it also has a distinct taste that fits well with this recipe. Luckily, it’s fairly easy to make your own sourdough bread at home. If that’s not an option, sandwich bread works just fine.
Variations
- Add some meaty — We don’t think that you need to make many changes to improve Dunkin Donuts’ avocado toast recipe, but some might say that it can be a bit meatier. Try cooking some bacon and add it to the mix.
- Add some eggs — Name a better duo than avocado and eggs, we dare you! If you’d like it to be a bit more filling, add some boiled eggs to the mix.

Storage
Keep in mind that avocado toast is supposed to be eaten right away. Still, if there are any unlikely leftovers, the following tips would be helpful to you:
- Transfer the leftovers to an airtight container. A ziplock bag will also do.
- Stored in your fridge, the leftover avocado toast will last for between 3-4 days.
Pro Tips
- Choose the right avocado — It is best advised to go with a ripe, fresh avocado. Not only that it will last longer, but it is likely to produce a higher quality toast.
- Make it ahead — If you always find yourself in a rush in the mornings, you can easily prepare your breakfast ahead. Simply mash the avocado and squeeze some juice on top, along with the seasoning, and store it in your fridge. In the morning, you can just toast your bread and enjoy your avocado spread toast.
