Most coffee shops belonging to the Dutch Bros. franchise are located in the Western states of the USA. Nevertheless, they have successfully created several varieties that speak to coffee addicts both in and outside the US.
Dutch Bros. Golden Eagle is one of the many popular Dutch Bros coffee specialties, along with Kicker, Annihilator, Cocomo, and Double Torture. Golden Eagle combines the strength of espresso with the sweetness of caramel and the creaminess of half and half. You can enjoy it hot or cold. Either way, it's super easy to make this famous specialty with our recipe.

Substitutions
- Full-fat milk — If you want to lighten your Dutch Bros. Golden Eagle a little, use semi-skimmed or fat-free milk instead of the full-fat version.
- Vanilla syrup — Vanilla syrup is an essential ingredient of the original Dutch Bros. Golden Eagle recipe. But fans of the genuine vanilla flavor can opt for vanilla extract or paste instead. If you substitute vanilla syrup with vanilla extract or paste, don't forget to reduce the amount. ½ teaspoon of extract or paste will incorporate the vanilla flavor into the coffee.
Variations
- Make it vegan — You can enjoy this plant-based version of your Dutch Bros. Golden Eagle coffee. You can make your homemade half and half substitute for the vegan variety. Put equal amounts of cashew cream and cashew milk in a cup and mix. There you have your vegan half and half! For your Golden Eagle to be completely vegan, you should substitute milk with a plant-based alternative. Besides cashew milk, you can also use soy, oats, or almonds. Avoid using coconut milk as it can suppress the caramel flavor.
- Add chocolate goodness — Since caramel and chocolate go well together, you can enrich the flavor by adding a tablespoon of chocolate sauce to the coffee mix. You can also top the drink with a chocolate cookie. Sprinkling chocolate bits on top is also another way of adding chocolate goodness.
Equipment
- Measuring spoons.
- Espresso machine or Moka pot.
- Heat-proof glass cup or Pyrex measuring cup.
- Microwave (for the hot variety).
- Tall glass for serving.
Pro Tips
- The quality of the espresso you will use will affect the overall taste of the coffee. You can achieve the best flavor with freshly ground coffee. If you're using an espresso pod or capsule, ensure its best use date has not passed.
- For the iced Golden Eagle, you can up your presentation game by using a handheld milk frother. Dip the milk frother in caramel sauce, place it in the center of the empty glass, and run it. You will get a circle visible from the outside. You can draw two-three caramel circles with the milk frother.
