    Substitutions

    • Whole milk — Your average ice cream is made using whole milk, and even though Pampered Chef’s ice cream recipe is nothing like those, whole milk is still needed to get the job done. You can use 2% milk or skim milk instead of whole milk, but keep in mind that the texture won’t be the same.
    • Heavy cream — Heavy cream is simply the ideal ingredient for this recipe, as more fat is better in this case. Still, half-and-half would do the job. although the texture of your ice cream will be different.

    Variations

    • Chocolate ice cream — As far as Pampered Chef’s ice cream recipes go, chocolate ice cream might be the most popular one. And it’s not really harder than the original recipe. All you need to do is to add a quarter cup of cocoa powder and three-quarters of semisweet chocolate to the mix.
    • Strawberry ice cream — This one’s fairly popular when it comes to Pampered Chef’s ice cream recipes. Once again, this one is also fairly easy to well, with only a few ingredients added to the mix. Simply blend two cups of chopped ice strawberries and you are good to go!

    Equipment

    • Measuring cups
    • Measuring spoon
    • Mixing bowl
    • Large pan
    • Ice cream maker

    Storage

    • You can use a freezer-safe ice cream container, which is fairly solid and useful, or you can also purchase an ice cream container for this purpose only.
    • Once stored in your freezer, the leftovers will last for about two weeks.

    Pro Tips

    • Prevent melting — Since you won’t be using chemicals in your homemade ice cream, it is almost certain that it will melt easier and quicker compared to the store-bought ones. To prevent this, you should store the ice cream in single batches.
    • Make it freeze — You need to make sure that the freezer bowl is ice-cold, or otherwise your ice cream won’t freeze, and it will end up a mess. To prevent this, store the freezer bowl in your freezer ahead of time.
