Substitutions
- 4C Energy Rush — A simple energy drink mix, 4C Energy Rush is probably the most commonly used ingredient in most Loaded Tea recipes. It’s a caffeinated mix, so check the labels and you might actually want to consult a professional beforehand if you have any doubts.
The general preference among most people is 4C Energy Rush. However, if you’re determined to find an alternative, Pure Boost would be a fine one. It’s sweet and it’s caffeinated, so you should be just fine. Celsius, with an even higher caffeine rate, would be another substitution that would work just fine. Nuun, on the other hand, doesn’t really pack enough caffeine, though.
- Guarana powder — Guarana boasts a high amount of concentrated caffeine, but it might be hard to come by, so online shopping would be the safer bet against your local grocery store. Still, as a source of caffeine, it works great, and this one’s actually supported by studies.
You can still make this Loaded Tea recipe with some other alternatives, which are usually herbs or ground tea leaves. Ginseng powder, for example, with a much lower caffeine content, works great. Maca powder should also be considered, though it is hard to come by.
- The lemonade — Our Loaded Tea recipe calls for both strawberry lemonade and blackberry lemonade, and that’s for a good reason. Especially when combined with Hawaiian punch, these two will add your Loaded Tea some much-needed flair and color.
